Turning In Our Keys And A Dog Distraction

Hello Internet!

How are you doing today?

We’re almost there. One more day to go – and then we’re off.

The last few days we’re spending at my parents’ house.

Walking the dog, eating as much Swedish food as we can, and… Turning in our keys from our old apartment.

Gosh, you guys, that was a rough step. We’ve loved our old apartment (flaws and all) but it was time. Time to let go of our student years and embrace a new part of life, as cheesy as it sounds.

Here’s what I’ve been distracting myself with:

Fire In The Woods

Hello, Internet!

What are you up to today? And how are you doing?

I’m in the midst of Christmas-candy-making. Or, to be fair, Felicia’s in the midst of Christmas-candy-making and I’m the savourer. It’s awesome.

The best part about baking and cooking is, always, to eat and taste – so… Why not do only that? Aw, poor Felicia. Did she know what she was getting in to?

I’m a great coach though.

“Come on! Beat that cream! Fry them nuts!”

Also, I’ve been experimenting with an occasional clap.

“Come on!” *applause* “I said: Come on!”

Like I said, I’m a great coach.

That’s now. But a few weeks before today my dad and I sat in the woods, lighting up a fire, and sharing hot dogs with our actual dog. And he, as you can see, was not very hot. Poor thing, we covered him up real good.

Every time he’s been running around he comes back to us to get covered in blankets and my dad’s jacket. He loves it. And as he gets older these running-around-trips get shorter and shorter before he comes back. When he was younger he could run around for hours and hours before we were interesting again – but now? Now it’s hard to even get him away from the beginning.

He doesn’t seem very old but I do believe he is using his age as an advantage, as one should I suppose. Although, you can see that he’s turning more and more gray around the eyes and nose.

Isn’t he just the sweetest thing? I don’t seem to run out of pictures of him either. It’s like a black hole of sweetness.

Okay, I need to coach some more now. I can see that a new batch of candy is almost ready for me to taste.

I take my job very seriously.

Christmas Baking 🎄

Hello, Internet!

How are you doing this Saturday?

I’m feeling super-christmasy! Eating fudge, drinking Christmas beer, and singing along with the holiday carols.

It’s so cozy!

Considering we began this day with two exams, this Saturday turned out frikkin good.

Felicia and I are creating something that’s supposed to resemble a gardening house. What do you say?

And even the family dog is pretty with glittery accessories ✨

I hope your Saturday is wonderful!

The Clash Between Green And Snow

Hello, Internet!

How are you doing?

It’s first of December!! Welcome to one of the best months! (And worst, if you, like me, don’t Christmas shop until last minute but aaaalways have this idea that “no, no, this year I’ll be out there in time – long before anyone else even thinks about Christmas shopping. Ahem.)

It’s the month of snow, candles, and possibly some unintended fires.

Speaking of which, the snow, not the fires: You know what color that looks frikkin ravishing with snow?

Green. Really, really dark green.

At least, that’s what I think. I think I love how it all becomes so peacefully grungy then if you know what I mean? It’s that dark combination of something glimmering, glistening even, and a dark loyal color that literally stays the same all year, that I absolutely love.

I’ll let Serco display what I mean.

By the way, can you see how happy he is when he’s out in the forest? It’s his zone, province if you like, no questions asked.

He’s such a good doggie. He’ll wait patiently (okay, not patiently, but obediently) for the “go” and once he gets it, as in this first picture below, he’s off. And it is so beautiful to watch. His happiness seems so pure.

Can you see his little dog butt hiding in the background? So cute, god 😂

There are a lot of things with Sweden that I hate but the forests are not one of them. Forests are perfect. Just perfect. All year round, just perfect.

They’re calm, sullen, and mysterious – what else could I even wish for? I think it’s definitely one of my top three favorite places in the world. No doubt.

Do you have a secret favorite place that you love more than any other place on earth?

Oh, and I almost forgot! It’s Friday today. So: Happy Friday!

I hope your week hasn’t made you too tired so that you can at least have a tasty meal.

Talk to you tomorrow, Internet.

Until then,

Swedish Winter | Snow And Red Houses

Hello, Internet!

How are you doing today? Are you having a fun Wednesday?

I’m struggling with my willpower. It seriously wants me to stay here, at home but I know I should go (and I will go) to French and Italian class. Come on me! You can do it! Get up!

I don’t know why I’ve become like this. Like “no, I don’t want to goooo” even though I

  1. Love learning a new language, and
  2. Have chosen to study two languages all by myself. There is no one else to blame but myself. If blame is even the right word to use here considering point 1.

It’s raining outside. Yeah, so sad. That might also be why I don’t want to go. But again it’s strange because

  1. I love rain! That’s my favorite type of weather, and
  2. It’s a great walk, and I love to take walks.

Anyway, it wasn’t only a few days ago that it was full on winter outside (okay, maybe more than a few and maybe not even a “full on winter”…) – and yes, you can be sure, I took pictures of it!

Here are some from my grandma’s where my dad and I was last week:

The sun was coming up so beautifully on the horizon. It was a shockingly bright light flashing towards the freshly fallen snow. These are the kind of moments that I love, when the sun turns into a white light and the sky is shimmering with pink.

We got out to say a quick hello to my grandma and whilst fiddling with our things our cute little doggy decided to crawl over to the driver’s seat. So. Freaking. Cute. I mean, look at him!

I think he felt a little bit abandoned though, considering…

… That face.

Yeah, he was not too happy about that. This is one minute in. No one can make a sad face like he can.

Because of Felicia’s family’s dog passed away, it’s really nice to have our family dog still alive. Alive and… Sad, apparently.

Okay, you guys, I need to get me my but off the couch right now and actually make myself ready. Come on me! I hope your Wednesday’s been wonderful.

A Magic Spell And Smelling Like Fire

Hello, Internet!

What are you up to?

I’m creating a magic spell to make Tuesday disappear.

Tuesday, Tuesday. Why are you here? Go away little Tuesday, away!!

Did it work?

Too bad.

I’ve just come home from a day with my dad in the forest. It was pretty awesome. I’ll share a few pictures later this week.

For now: Our dog.

He’s such a puppy. He always gets really cozy and sleepy when he’s done running around so dad usually gives him his jacket to protect him from the cold. How cute? Right after this picture was taken he came and lay with us by the fire.

He sat in my lap in the car the entire way from the city and out to this place. He weighs 36 kg. 40 minutes of leg killer, I’d call it.

Anyway, now I’m smelling of smoke, from the fire, and I’m exhausted.

Seriously, I need a shower so bad. Like so bad. I smell as if I was a frekkin fire.

*making fire-sounds*

I’m going to have the single most fancy pamper evening ever.

Talk to you tomorrow.

Walk, Time, A Quarter

Hello, Internet!

How are you doing tonight? Having a good time?

Because I haven’t had time to post my planned post today – and, quite frankly because it’s now 23:45 giving me no more than a quarter of an hour to get my post for the day up – I’ll share these three pictures of my parents’ beautiful dog instead.

We took a little walk in the forest today.

And, thank you for asking, yes, today has been a really successful throwing-things-away-day. Indeed.

I hope you’re enjoying yourselves whatever you’re doing.

And remember to swim cool.
